CORTAFLEX HA SUPER STRENGTH SOLUTION –  the new and improved version now containing Super Fenn

Cortaflex Super Fenn provides a unique blend of collagen, amino acids,  hyaluronic acid and key trace elements (copper, manganese and silicon) delivering the important nutritional  building blocks to help the horse make his own glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans (natural compounds produced by the horse including glucosamine and chondroitin) to support cartilage and joint fluid health.

Also provides MSM, Boswellia and Yucca, all well known for their roles in helping to provide nutritional support for joint health and comfort

Tried, tested and trusted all over the world, with over 2 million units sold worldwide!

Cortaflex HA Super Fenn Solution has been especially formulated to provide optimum joint support for performance, racing and competition horses, or older horses with significant levels of wear and tear.

Cortaflex® HA Super Fenn Solution provides the building blocks to help the specialized cells in cartilage, called chondrocytes, to maintain the repair process. (Cartilage is the spongy, elastic material which covers the ends of bones within a joint, and together with joint fluid which bathes the joint, acts as a vital shock absorber.)

This unique blend of ingredients  include;

  • Collagen – an important compound needed to produce the water based matrix of the cartilage, to help give it strength and elasticity. (We use a sustainable and ethical source of marine collagen.)
  • Hyaluronic acid – a key component of the vital joint fluid, which lubricates the joint, and also  acts as a shock absorber.
  • Amino acids to provide the building blocks for the production of the amino sugars such as glucosamine, which are an important part of the cartilage repair process.
  • Key trace minerals manganese, silicon and copper, which all play important roles in the production of structural compounds such as chondroitin, as well as in the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid.
  • Also included MSM, providing a bio-available source of sulphur to support the sulphur-containing bonds in the cartilage matrix.
  • Plant extracts from Boswellia and  Yucca provide antioxidants and other important phytochemicals to support joint health and comfort.

Also available in 5 litre yard size, and as a powder.

CORTAFLEX AND HYALURONIC ACID

Cortaflex is now fortified with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) for even greater benefit to the joints, particularly those that have experienced excessive wear and tear.
HA is a major component of synovial fluid, which is essential for providing the joints with lubrication and the cartilage with nutrients. HA has traditionally been derived from type II Collagen sourced from Rooster Comb, which has a high molecular weight of up to six million Daltons. This form of HA has been shown to be very effective when injected but is not considered to achieve a good rate of absorption when taken orally due to the large molecular size.
The Hyaluronic Acid used in Cortaflex is of vegetable origin and has a molecular weight of less than 50,000 Daltons. It is believed that this is more readily absorbed, providing Hyaluronic Acid to the joints in a non-invasive way.

RESEARCH – CLINICAL EVIDENCE

Cortaflex has been clinically tested in a double-blind study of equine tarsal joint movement. The rigorous trial was conducted by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University, one of the leading equine research institutes in the world. Unlike the more subjective research approaches in the majority of equine trials, the study used the most advanced kinetic analysis techniques to objectively and accurately measure the horse’s gait. These techniques, based on video and force plates, unquestionably proved the effects of supplementation. The results were then presented by the author Dr Hilary Clayton BVMS, PhD, MRCVS, to the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP)) and published in the conference proceedings.
